ekphrastic in Oregon

Black & White & Read is currently on view at the Cannon Gallery of Art at Western Oregon University in Monmouth. In the exhibit, 15 poets responded to black-and-white photographs of women by a selection of visual artists. Both photos and poems are on display. The show continues through Friday, October 30, 2015, and will include a curator’s talk at Noon on the closing day.

Seems like there’s a resurgence of interest in ekphrastic poetry. In September, at the Museum of Northwest Art in La Connor, WA, Poets on the Coast responded to various works that spoke to them. The resulting poems are amazing and were published in the museum’s newsletter. Here’s the link: http://monamuseum.org/poets-coast-2015
