Griffin shortlist

In case your must-read poetry list was getting too short, the shortlist for the Griffin Poetry Prize was announced today. Griffin awards literary prizes totaling $200,000 (Cdn) to Canadian and international nominated books of poetry. To make their selection of seven books (four international, three Canadian), the judges “each read 617 books of poetry, from 39 countries, including 23 translations.” The seven finalists will each be awarded $10,000 for their participation in the Shortlist Readings on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, in Toronto, and the winners, to be announced at the Griffin Poetry Prize Awards on Thursday, June 8, will each be awarded $65,000.
