Once again, poetry will play a vital role in the Auburn, Washington, AugustFest (formerly known as Auburn Days) on Saturday, August 13, 2016. All activities are free and include a poetry workshop with Christopher Howell (11:00am – 1:00pm), readings, open mic contest, Book and Small Press Fair, haiku display, and take-a-book-leave-a-book exchange table. Auburn Days

Mid-August means Auburn Days and Auburn Days means Poets on Parade. Coming up next Sunday, August 16, 2015, Poets on Parade will start at 10:00am with a free two-hour workshop, Organizing Your Manuscript from Start to Finish, presented by poet and author Matthew Brouwer.

After a short lunch break, poets take the stage for the remainder of the afternoon, wrapping up at 5:00pm after a two-hour open mic, which includes a contest segment and a non-contest segment. There will also be a book swap, a book drive and a small-press book fair.

Auburn Days

If you’re eager to show off the Northwest’s literary chops to your house guests, consider taking them to Auburn Days on Sunday, August 11, 2013. The three-day festival (August 9, 10 and 11), which includes a parade, a dance, model boats, a car show, plenty of food and other fun, culminates with Sunday’s Adventures in Literature. The lineup features workshops, readings by Poets on Parade, a small press fair and book swap, an essay contest, open mic and much more.
