Congratulations to the writers who have been selected as finalists for the 2021 Oregon Book Awards.

The finalists for the Stafford/Hall Award for Poetry (judged by Tyree Daye, Erika Meitner, and Kathryn Neurnberger) are:

  • Anna Elkins of Jacksonville, Hope of Stones (Press 53)
  • Eman Hassan of Portland, Raghead (New Issues Poetry and Prose)
  • Floyd Skloot of Portland, Far West: Poems (LSU Press)
  • Ed Skoog of Portland, Travelers Leaving for the City (Copper Canyon)
  • Joe Wilkins of McMinnville, Thieve (Lynx House Press)

The winners will be announced on a special episode of The Archive Project, Sunday, May 2, 2021, on OPB Radio at 7:00pm Pacific.

The poetry finalists will read at a free online event on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at 7:00pm. Further information on the poets and the event here.

SPL Washington Center for the BookThe Washington Center for the Book at The Seattle Public Library has announced the finalists for the 2014 Washington State Book Awards. Books are considered in several categories: fiction, poetry, biography/memoir, history/general nonfiction and four groups of children’s books.

The winners will be announced at a free, public event on Friday, October 10, 2014, at the Central Library. The evening event will include readings, music, book sales and signings.

Breadline Performance Series - Sept2013
The every-third-Wednesday Breadline Performance Series features “meaningful dialogue between poets, prose writers, musicians, and visual/video artists” from 7-10pm at the Vermillion art gallery / wine bar on Capitol Hill in Seattle. Tonight’s headliners: Ed Skoog, Kary Wayson, Oliver de la Paz and Wilson Shook on saxophone. Sounds good. Good sounds.
