Once again, the Ferndale Arts Commission has issued their call for the Free Verse Poetry Project. The idea is to visualize a line or two from a poem and then build and photograph what you visualize.

  • The line of poetry must be in the photo when shot, not added later.
  • Pictures must be 8″ X 10″ and mounted on standard black mounting board, or black construction paper.
  • Deadline for entries is 5:00 p.m. Monday, May 1, 2017.
  • Entries will be accepted in person: Ferndale City Hall, 2095 Main Street, or by mail: City of Ferndale, PO Box 936, Ferndale, WA 98248. Online entries cannot be accepted.
  • Prizes will be awarded for winning entries. All entries will be displayed in participating businesses throughout Ferndale.

For a downloadable entry form, visit the Ferndale Arts Commission page.

open sesame!

October 29, 2014

Ferndale, Washington

Today’s the day! After years in a too-cramped facility and many months of deliberation, planning, fundraising and construction, the brand-new Ferndale Public Library, at 2125 Main Street in Ferndale, Washington, opens its doors TODAY! Designed by SHKS Architects and built by Faber Construction, the 15,000 square foot library includes a Community Room that will accommodate up to 80 people, a conference room for groups of 12 to 14, plus two smaller study rooms.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held Saturday, November 15, 2014, at 10:00am. Meanwhile, the library is open regular hours, Monday – Thursday 10am-9pm, Friday 10am-6pm, Saturday 10am-5pm and Sunday 1pm-5pm.

Congratulations to the Ferndale community and to everyone who had a hand in making this happen. A new library is a very good thing indeed.
