Jack Straw streaming

Tune in tomorrow, Friday, July 10, 2020, at 7:00pm Pacific, for the Jack Straw 2020 Reading Series, Night 3. Hosted by 2020 Writers Program Curator Anastacia-Reneé, the reading will feature Jeffrey Lee Cheatham II, Arianne True, Jose Trejo-Maya, and Troy Osaki. The the writers will read from their homes, streamed live via Jack Straw’s Facebook page. The video will be available afterward on Facebook and YouTube.

The 2020 Jack Straw Writers Anthology will be available for purchase online from Open Books: A Poem Emporium.

Jack Straw Writers will be highlighted at two Northwest Folklife Festival events this weekend, Saturday, May 25, and Sunday, May 26, 2019.

On Saturday, Jack Straw Writers Showcase presents Samar Abulhassan, Josh Axelrad, Christianne Balk, Sylvia Byrne Pollack, Rena Priest, Michael Schmeltzer, and Suzanne Warren reading their work, hosted by 2006 Jack Straw Writer Larry Laurence. The reading will be held at 2:30pm at the Folklife Underground Cafe.

On Sunday, Jack Straw Youth Showcase will feature youth poets, musicians, and singers from Lowell and Roxhill Elementary Schools, Denny Middle School, Seattle World School, University Prep, and Cornish College of the Arts performing original poetry and music with Jack Straw artists J.R. Rhodes and Marco de Carvalho, Wes Weddell, Trio Guadalevin, and Bill Horist. See them starting at 11:45am on the Vera Project Stage.

It’s time to hear the 2018 Jack Straw Writing Fellows at a series of three readings hosted by 2018 Writers Program Curator Daemond Arrindell. Held at the Jack Straw Cultural Center, 4261 Roosevelt Way NE, Seattle, admission to each reading is a $5 suggested donation, and comes with a gift of the 2018 Jack Straw Writers Anthology. A light reception will follow each event.

On Friday, May 1, 2018, featured readers are Bryan Edenfield, Kamari Bright, Corbin Louis, and Meredith Clark.

On Friday, May 11, featured readers are Juan Carlos Reyes, Natasha Kochicheril Moni, Dujie Tahat, and Danielle Bero.

On Friday, May 18, featured readers are Jalayna Carter, Sarah María Medina, Daniel Atkinson, and Rachel Trignano.
