Sunday at Centrum

May 18, 2024

Memory’s Vault is a sculpture and poetry installation by artist Richard Turner at Fort Worden State Park in Port Townsend. Seven concrete pillars hold bronze plaques with poems written by Sam Hamill, co-founder of Copper Canyon Press.

Memory’s Vault: The Poetic Heart of Fort Worden is a brand-new book from Empty Bowl Press, edited by Bob Francis, that includes the words of Turner and Hamill as well as a number of writers and poets who’ve been in residence or taught at Centrum, including essays by Natalie Goldberg and Wendy Call and poems by Alice Derry, CMarie Fuhrman, Gary Lilley, Claudia Castro Luna, Shin Yu Pai, and Rena Priest.

This Sunday, May 19, 2024, the public is invited to join Richard Turner for a walk to Memory’s Vault, an on-site artist talk, and a reading of Sam Hamill’s poems by local poets.

Meet at 3:00 pm in the South Gallery of the Centrum Building (#305) and return after the walk for a reception and book signing.
