Poetry and art on the EDGE…

September 6, 2012

Artist TrustArtist Trust provides “Washington State artists of all creative disciplines the necessary support to launch and sustain successful careers, through financial grants, career training and professional resources.”

The EDGE Professional Development Program is just one Artist Trust activity. EDGE is “a 50-hour comprehensive survey of professional arts practices offered through a hands-on, interactive curriculum that includes instruction by professionals in the field, specialized presentations, panel discussions and assignments.”

The Washington State Convention Center, in Seattle, is currently hosting “A Celebration of Washington Artists,” an exhibit featuring emerging and established literary, media and visual artists from Washington State and beyond who have participated in Artist Trust’s EDGE Professional Development Program. The exhibit opened in July and will continue until October 18.

Exhibit events include tomorrow night’s reception, September 7, 2012, 5:30 – 8:30pm, with a reading by participating writers from 7:30 – 8:30 pm. Also scheduled is a series of ekphrastic (inspired by art) workshops of various lengths at various times. The exhibit and all events are free.
