poetry workshop…

February 15, 2013

Matthew Lane BrouwerThese days an increasing number of poets use an array of techniques drawn from theater, standup comedy, music and dance in order to increase the versatility of their work and captivate audiences.

Matthew Brouwer will examine the possibilities in a workshop, Poetry as Performance Art, on Saturday, March 2, 2013, starting at 9:00am at Allied Arts, 1418 Cornwall Avenue, Bellingham. He says, “Together we’ll explore what makes a strong poetry performance and look at how you can improve your confidence and spice up your delivery with a little dash of flare. The session will include writing exercises as well as significant time devoted to practicing the performance of your work.”

$25 if you are a student or register by February 16 (that’s tomorrow!); $30 otherwise. Contact Matthew at matthewbrouwerpoet@gmail.com to register.

Various poets, including Matthew Brouwer, will explore the parameters of poetry performance this Sunday, February 17, at SpeakEasy 10: Out of the Box.
