2013 Walk Award

The winter interrupts
And takes away
From the freedom
To skate

Going to my favorite park
In the sun
It’s hard—indoors
I’m stuck
My parents built me a ramp—it’s not my favorite
My friends like it
In the dark barn

I like skate church
People there know me
And I feel free
I make friends
And people like me for who I am
I am a skater
Free
Even without the sun
